Like the ‘auratic object’ that presents itself as ‘more than what it is’ (Pearson and Shanks 2001: 95), Hill’s projections do not simply ‘mediate’ ‘presence,’ for presence is not an ‘originary point,’ an authentic or autonomous quality to be depleted in its reproduction and repetition.
