About the play

All the world's a stage, and the virtual worlds that we inhabit are infinite platforms for nimble minds and eclectic talents. Avatar Repertory Theater was founded in the summer of 2008 to create a small, tightly knit troupe with high levels of acting and technical skills to create theater in the Metaverse. Among the additional skills our actors boast are writing, building and texturing, animations, avatars and costumes, scripting, sound engineering, managing sim resources, business administration and public relations, all used to create our theatrical projects. The Avatar Repertory Theatre exists in the virtual world Secondlife, in real life its members are predominantly from the US though they also have members in the UK, New Zealand and Australia.

Our expanding repertoire includes Shakespeare's "The Tempest", using an entire sim as a stage, "Tales from the Metaverse" a collection of original one act plays and skits that explore the dark sides of fantasy, a travelling show of scenes from several Shakespeare plays, machinima, and a weekly open rehearsal and workshop. Upcoming projects include Shakespeare's "Antony and Cleopatra" a Christmas show, Greek theater, and an adaptation of Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland". Every Friday we invite audience to a casual open rehearsal where try out new material and tech.
In Secondlife we perform at various locations though our Friday night sessions take place at the Greek amphitheatre on Cookie sim
