Founded in 1991 by Robert Emmet Lunney, Jan Maxwell, and Richard Romagnoli, The Barker Project is a loose affiliation of theatre artists dedicated to exploring the works of contemporary British playwright, Howard Barker.  The project has explored in readings public and private:  Fair Slaughter, The Castle, No End of Blame, The Love of a Good Man, Judith, The Europeans, The Hang of the Gaol, The Seven Lears, That Good Between Us, The Possibilities, Scenes from an Execution, The Power of the Dog, Uncle Vanya, Pity in History, and Victory.

Robert Emmet Lunney is an actor/writer/director living in NYC. He has appeared on Broadway in Mauritius, Deuce, Democracy ,The Graduate, A Doll’s House, Dancing at Lughnasa, The Devil’s Disciple, and The Night of the Iguana; Off-Broadway in The Europeans, Grace, The Breadwinner, The Dying Gaul, Two Small Bodies, Chopin in Space, Perfect Crime; and in Regional theatre (Long Wharf, McCarter, Seattle Rep). Film and television: Julie & Julia, Gossip Girl, and Lipstick Jungle, and guest-starring roles on “Law & Order.” His play FOR NINA was a semi-finalist for the 2009 O’Neill Playwrights Conference.  His AN OCCURRENCE AT YANKEE STADIUM was featured in The New Yorker magazine and The New York Times and recorded as part of Coyote Rep’s Sound-Play series. His screenplay WHEN YOU WAKE is a touching father/son story of love and loss easily confused for a demonic thriller. Robert is co-founder of The Barker Project, a loose affiliation of theatre artists inspired by the works of British playwright Howard Barker, founded on the principle that argument and entertainment need not be mutually exclusive.
