Research and Performance: Hamletmachine

Hamletmachine, written in 1977, has been described as one of Heiner Mullers greatest works. It is a postmodern drama based around Hamlet by Shakespeare, the main differences being that it is only 8 pages long, has only 2 characters from the original play, has no clear narrative and demands images of a Madonna with breast cancer, an ice age, blood from a fridge amongst many others. So maybe it is a little more different to the original Hamlet than we had originally thought and our production will hopefully be a little more different as well. Prepare yourselves for Mullers vision of Hamlet in 40 minutes of pure madness.
