Drama Introduction to Technical Theatre and Stagecrafts Introduction If you're not a Drama student at Exeter and are interested in training please email dramatech@exeter.ac.uk with details of your needs. PREVIOUS SESSIONS: Wednesday 3 November 2010 Join Chris and Andy for a technical training session in TS2 to improve your practical skills and knowledge of the 'behind the scenes' work involved in setting up for a show. This week's Wednesday afternoon activity will be an introduction to rigging and lantern maintenance. Future sessions will include: sound, video and projection. Wednesday 20 October 2010 1pm - 4pm TS3 Join Chris and Andy for a technical training session in TS3 to improve your practical skills and knowledge of the 'behind the scenes' work involved in setting up for a show. This week's Wednesday afternoon activity will be an introduction to lighting. What you need to bring: stout footwear (ideally steel toe-caps), trousers or shorts (knee-length), T-shirt or polo. (NB: No prior experience is necessary) Aims of the session: to inform you about the basic composition of stage lighting systems; discuss the different types of lanterns and their applications; discuss lighting design and its role as part of a show; learn and practice safe rigging and focusing from both low and high level (ie. from the floor and from a ladder); learn and practice patching; learn to use a manual lighting desk and discuss the role of an operator.
